Citychurch brings Help with Hope at Christmas.

You may not realize that there are thousands of children in the Texas Panhandle who are suffering from hunger, homelessness, and spiritual neglect. They live lives in constant transition. They are often raised by parents who are in and out of jail or prison. Some might be living with an adult who is nothing but a casual acquaintance of a parent. They have no place that would resemble a consistent home. They carry the few belongings they have in their school backpack to make sure they can keep them. Every morning when they prepare for school, they leave not knowing if they will be returning to the same house or apartment that evening to eat and sleep. They are children without fathers, home addresses, safe places to sleep, and any hope that things will change.

Years ago, Citychurch began planning a special ministry to reach out and find these children so that we could provide everything that they would need during the Christmas holiday season. We began by helping dozens. This year, Citychurch is preparing Christmas for 1000 children; all at no cost to them. We begin by finding the children in the neighborhood, through home visits, school referrals, and social media. We then will visit with each family to make sure that the need is genuine and that the gifts will be given directly to the children. This year, we will also be hosting each family that receives Christmas gifts at a Christmas party that will give each child a chance to hear about the love that God has for them.

For the past 12 months, Citychurch has been gathering the toys and blankets, clothes, books, art supplies, and hygiene items that will fill the gift box of each child. Each gift will be individually packed to meet the specific needs and interests of each child. We currently have over 1,000 volunteers scheduled to come and help us fill and wrap the boxes, and distribute them to the kids.
